In this day and age, why wouldn’t you just run to such online freelance chop-shops like Fivver or Upwork? You’ll get something close to what our looking for on there for cheap. You don’t have to talk to anyone. Its easy. You hire a designer to give you what they think you want with little to no direction. Sounds like it could be good, right?
Let me share my experience with Fivver when I was looking to outsource a pet project of mine to get a simple logo. I posted my expectations and my budget and sure enough, I quickly found someone that I thought could handle my project and to turn it over quickly for my tight deadline. 24 hours later, I got an email saying that I had some proofs ready for me. Now, as a designer myself I can tell all of the who, what, when, where and why;’s in every design. What I saw was to say the least, really disappointing!
What I got was a logo that completely missed the mark. It was developed by some kid in India, and my expectations got lost in translation. I got a child-like animation logo when I was gong to an adult extreme sport look and feel. Discouraged to say the least. So i had to wait another 24 hours for a second round of logos and yet again, the designer designed for himself instead of for me and i received another disappointing logo.
